And what will become the cleric Nerys when the full moon rises again over Faerûn? As Minsc and the adventurers fight their way through a horde of axe-wielding giants and paralyzing blizzards to save the remote mining town of Fireshear, the heroes of Baldur’s Gate wonder if they’ll see the cobbled streets of their seaside home again.

IDW’s Frost Giant’s Fury limited series by Jim Zub and artist Netho Diaz was published in 2017, following the release of Dungeons & Dragons colossal adventure Storm King’s Thunder, putting giants back in the spotlight for 5th Edition fans eager for a taste of the classic 1st Edition adventure, Against the Giants, also reimagined in 2017’s Dungeons & Dragons: Tales from the Yawning Portal. The glacial wastelands prove a frigid battleground for marauding frost giants, winged white dragons, and party of adventurers desperate for survival and redemption. Snow-blind and in dire straits, a despondent Minsc and his companions find a kindred spirit in a scaly Dragonborn explorer when a pack of ogres assail the weary party. Traumatized by their experiences in the Demiplane of Shadow, the wounded adventurers are whisked from the dark realm of the villain Count Strahd Von Zarovich to the windswept Spine of the World, a frozen mountain range in their own world. The adventure continues in Dungeons & Dragons: Frost Giant’s Fury, the third of the series collected in IDW’s Days of Endless Adventure graphic novel. In the end, the immortal Strahd proves too powerful for the band of heroes and, overwhelmed, the adventurers escape Barovia through a planar-portal, fleeing for their very lives. The Bram Stoker-inspired Barovia and the vampire Strahd were first introduced to Dungeons and Dragons in the 1st Edition adventure Ravenloft, and the popular module has been revived for 3.5 edition in Expedition to Castle Ravenloft, and 5th edition with the best-selling Curse of Strahd sourcebook. Writer Jim Zub and artist Nelson Daniel’s Shadows of the Vampire is a haunting tribute to dread-filled Ravenloft, with the dark despair and hopelessness that saturates the realm crushing even Minsc's ebullient nature. The entire party ends up triggering an ancient artifact which hurls them through a portal and into the mist-wreathed lands of Barovia. Contracted to safeguard a temple dedicated to Kelemvor, God of Death, the party encounters the ashen-faced cleric Nerys before fending off a vicious werewolf attack on the sacred grounds. With longtime Zub collaborator and Dungeons & Dragons: Descent Into Avernus adventure concept artist Max Dunbar, Legends of Baldur’s Gate faithfully recreates the Forgotten Realms in continuity and detail, drawing upon the legendary campaign setting’s lore and adapting it with aspects highlighted in Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition.Īs Legends of Baldur’s Gate provides crafty exposition and character development for Minsc and newer characters Delina, the Halfling cutpurse Shandie, and her partner-in-crime, Krydle, Dungeons & Dragons: Shadows of the Vampire darkens the lens around the adventurers, challenging them with ravenous undead and other unspeakable terrors. Appearing in Dungeons & Dragons: Legends of Baldur’s Gate, Minsc joins forces with Delina, a Moon Elf sorceress and a pair of streetwise rogues, Shandie and Krydle, to stop a Dragon Cult from summoning the despotic Tiamat, Queen of Dragons.
